Virtualization Security

The server world has been forever changed with the onset of virtualized servers (Hyper-V & VMWare). There are far fewer hardware platforms hosting a far greater number of virtualized systems and standard endpoint anti-virus is not the answer.

Today’s networks demand the best in server protection and that means a reduced foot print with host based security that includes the ability to monitor file transactions and intrusion attempts, and react appropriately.

There are a couple of important security aspects to be aware of within virtualized systems:

  1. Multiple VMs = Multiple Endpoint Security Deployments: When working with dozens or hundreds of instances the update process alone could cripple your network.
  2. Internal Traffic between Hosts: Housing a number of servers within a single host is great, but what is scanning or watching the data between among these servers?
